59. see you next year

after just finishing up in the studio and the it being the holidays and stuff, we've all been very "lazy" and everybody's been doing their own thing. we're going to take the rest of this year off and we'll continue blogging and being more responsive on myspace in 2008.

see you tuesday... enjoy the rest of your year.

58. eve

today was a lovely day filled with seafood...shrimp, scallops, clams, salmon, (i only ate the shrimp and salmon) and yet another cookie cake. that's like 2 within a months time. crazy.

our latest studio endeavor was musically draining and somewhat stressful... there was a pivotal moment where we had already been there for a week, we had a nearly completed song... and we all just looked at each other with the same thought, "We could do this a lot better." so we decided to write off a lot of what we had already done as producer/artist getting familiar with each other, and basically start over with the drum track. within 2 days we had turned the song into a completely new and exciting creature. it was unreal, but we all felt the pressure.

i'm going to live out this week not even thinking about music and come back full strength in 2008. the new year will hopefully bring new ideas and new opportunities for our band. it will at least bring a new CD! i promise you that. it's awesome to have you guys following us via blogs through the boredom and the excitement.

merry christmas or whatever holiday you already celebrated or will celebrate this month.

enjoy!

57. eve eve

went to the mall again yesterday... second biggest in the country, the palisades. parking was an absolute nightmare. i was with my sister and her friends and we got nothing done. the mall kiosk people were extremely annoying, but i let one of them straighten my hair cuz she was cute... apparently that straightener doesn't damage your hair... great.

went out and drank too much... i didn't even mean to, but now i hurt.

and yes egg yolks do have the cholesterol, but cholesterol is misunderstood. just cuz u eat it, doesn't mean it's the bad stuff that is clogging up your veins. there's so many other goodies in the yolk... i can't explain it cuz i don't get it... but peeps say that whole eggs are good so i believe them.

tomorrow's my last shot at getting gifts... i'm gonna make a list!

56. humbug

went down and got the final mixes today! hooray... now we have to give em to our label peeps and see what they think, but the entire industry shuts down for the holidays so we'll have to wait till next year. we mixed an acoustic version of it too... it's sexy.

stopped at a jersey mall on the way home... bought a few things for myself... still nothing for anybody else... maybe tomorrow i'll figure that all out. just got in from a really lame night out. this town is poopy... i want out!

panicatthedicso.com is so cool... i have no idea what this is but it's awesome and they've got me hooked.

55. dont drop the yolk!

i was in deep slumber on my couch upstairs until i was woken up by the faint chatter of greg talking to bendeth about the mix being done. so i came down to listen, but the file was three and a half minutes of silence... anti-climatic as some would say.

today i tagged along w/ greg all day while he shopped and i tried figuring out what i was going to shop for. i'm going to take that quest tomorrow at some point. we went with our friend chris who just came back from australia... he was there for 5 months sleeping in a tent in the wild... the kids a nut... he hunts snakes and stuff...

oh wait now we have a file... and it's friggin awesome. yeah... i'm not sure when we're allowed to post this or make it available... we'll keep you in the loop. now we gotta go back to the studio for one last day and make some tweaks tomorrow. that's all i got.

egg yolks aren't bad for u

54. mix that shhh...!

alright so maybe i've tainted the name daily blog... but you shouldn't take everything we say so literally! geesh... anyway... we finished up recording the single in the studio today. we all went home feeling really great about the track. dave mixes it tomorrow and we get to hear the final product. these last 3 days have been vital. it was like we smeared glue all over the song and everything just sealed up really nicely. i hope people actually play it. now i have to figure out what i'm supposed to buy people for christmas.

thank u nikki and lisa for the holiday card!
and thanks nurseda for the absurd amount of steak today!

the studio had this Adam's Family pinball machine that we all became addicted to. now i'm in the market for one for the house. congrats to greg for attaining the band high score for the week.

what should we do for new years????

48. 49. 50. 51. 52. 53. oops

sorry we haven't been keeping up... studio life has been JAM packed... especially when trying to get a song done in a timely fashion. we basically wake up early, drive to jersey to the studio, stay there till 2 in the morning, drive back, and sleep... there's no time for anything but studio and sleep!! we should have been done with the song by now but we're going to take the next 3 or so days to try some new stuff and polish up some loose ends. dave has been cool enough to offer that to us. SO in a few hours we head back to mess around... we really wanna nail it. i'm losing weight in the studio cuz i forget to eat... and when i do remember to eat it's mostly crap like lays chips to keep the vocals greasy.

anyhoo... i'll try and keep up with you guys. it's been hectic

do the giants squander the playoffs in their final 2 games? probably.

47. Studio Day 1

chad (drummer) from breaking benjamin is an animal... bendeth is also an animal... a crazy animal too, but it adds character to the studio experience. we sat in that rehearsal room for what seemed like a small eternity and just went over all sorts of different scenarios for how the song should go. we were scolded quite a bit (adam the most)... BUT the drums are now done... they sound sooo yummy. the song is definitely different... on the "more" side rather than less, but it's gonna be good i promise. now i go to sleep and wake up and do it all over again.... for 4 more days. i can't even imagine when you're in the studio for 4+ months straight doing a record. make sure to come to our myspace and watch us live on the webcam throughout the entire week. we should have sound the entire time tomorrow.

cya then!

46. Studio Day 0

i woke up really early this morning tossing around unable to get back to bed. so many thoughts are running through my head about what this week is going to bring. it seems like the next 5 days of my life have a lot of bearing on the rest of it. i'm nervous and i'm hopeful and i'm excited and i'm scared. i just wanna pop in the song right now and listen to what we've done, but we didn't do anything yet...

shower time, then show time!

45. giants v eagles

a big rivalry is about to go down. greg is an idiot eagles fan and i am a giants fan. they are playing each other in 2 minutes so i have to make this quick. adam is coming over in a little bit also to work on "these are the nights" and another song we've been working on. we have so much built up material i feel like we're going to explode... i just wanna put something out already!!! we're bringing kurt into the studio this week to get some money footage of us, so not only will we be LIVE at times, but we'll have a nice vblog and the end of it all.

i think we're webcasting tonight too so be there... 9pm.

+44. CONFIRMED!... i think.

i know we've been dragging this out for a little while now, but it's finally become real to us. starting monday (for about a week) we will be recording "these are the nights" over again so it can sound pretty for the radio. we've got a million different ideas for what to do with it. it may only transform a little, maybe a lot... if you end up saying "i like the old one better," then it's a good thing you have the old one to listen to!! ;) since we are without a drummer, we will be using the drummer from breaking benjamin to play on the track. the kid is nasty (good). we will also get the privilege to watch two string players from the new york symphony orchestra play over the song. watching is awesome in the studio... especially when you're watching good things happen to your song. all of this pretty much came together tonight, two days before recording, in typical 'making april' procrastinative fashion (that's not a word but i've got poetic license)... anyway, i'm going to practice up my piano skills... see what i can add to this endeavor.

wish us luck!

43. chicken catchatori

i've been trying to start this blog for the last hour but i've been wasting my time watching episodes of I Love New York. this show is so bad but somehow im addicted to it in this very moment. earlier tonight we had seans family over to celebrate his bday (2 weeks belated). we then proceeded to eat a giant chocolate chip cookie.

over the past few months i noticed that i was taking the band for granted. ever since i graduated college, i've been blessed not to have to work a real job. unfortunately waking up everyday without a set direction/goal can grow old quite quickly. so recently i started applying for jobs. i feel that if i work throughout the week, i won't be as bored and i'll appreciate my time with the band much more; maybe ill even learn some discipline. i always had internships with bristol myers-squibb (pharmaceutical company) throughout high school and college but i didn't really enjoy it there.... i have a bunch of contacts in the music industry but i wouldn't mind working in the interactive media world. i'm not really sure what that means, but it sounds cool and i hear theres money in it. im a bit of a computer nerd, so anything digital will probably work.

ill keep you updated when i finally choose a direction. till then, we start in the studio on monday with the man, the myth, the legend.... mr. david bendeth. i'll definitely be webcaming live from inside the control room, so be ready:)

42. on the VERGE

sorry i passed out early last night... i THINK we're going into the studio monday. if this is true then that means greg gets to have fun w/ the live (in-studio) web cam next week. we're still waiting on some lawyer/label/producer conversation to be finalized and then we're rolling.

41. over the hedge

last night we watched a very amusing animated movie, over the hedge. dreamworks know what's going on. i was somewhat jealous of ben folds getting to write all of the music for it, but i guess those opportunities come with success! i have a bunch of free songs in my itunes account so i'm buying some old ashlee simpson hits... cuz they're genius.

i'm going to finish this tea and sing a little. give the neighbors something to wake up to... oh and if you buy a lime green shirt from us and obnoxiously feature it in a myspace pic, we'll top friend you. it'll look flashy! get on it!!

40. dont start a band

the music industry is dying and nobody really wants to buy a CD anymore. labels don't know how to solve this problem, so they just wanna buy bands that are doing well already and have their shit together. nobody will make an investment and develop an artist cuz it's too risky. if you have talent and good songs, but no money, nobody will be able to see through your crappy recordings and give you a chance... assuming you even know the right person to give your music to. if you actually do get a chance to show what you can do, hopefully you have enough knowledge and pretty-sounding instruments to override some craphole nyc venue and a d-bag sound guy who doesn't give an f about your band. this all takes money. thousands of dollars on recording songs and the right gear so that you can recreate what you've recorded. so... if you've proven somehow being unsigned that your music can sell, proven that your songs are good enough to show your future worth, and put on a halfway decent show, maybe somebody will take a shot on you. at this point (actually months before this point) you'll need a lawyer or management cuz you dont know a damn thing about what you're doing. you think you're going to negotiate a deal by yourself? you'll get raped. plus they're the only ones that can introduce you to the important people who might further your career (if they like you). so pay all of them a percentage of your gross earnings while you invest all of the hard-earned money that you actually DO see back into the band, because you want it to grow. now if you've made it to a label that hasn't dropped you already or gone under, you're doing well... just sit and wait for people to make decisions for you, and pray that somehow you become effing HUGE so you can actually sustain life by playing music, cuz if you dont get big, you wont see money. if you were big before this point in time, congrats on making it. if you want to start now, good luck breaking through, but be prepared for quite a struggle. somehow we made it to the praying stage, and it took a lot of lucky rolls to get here. we quit like 4 times along the way... but it was fun... i think.

39a. back to the future

so tonight was our first attempt at a live webconcert. some of you may have expierenced technical difficulties... i apologize for these. it turns out we were streaming the video at too high of a rate. after further testing, we may have solved the problem. also, the sound was missing for the first half of roses and butterflies... this is because i forgot to turn the sound on. my badd yall.

with all the problems aside, jump in sounded pretty good. so expect that in the future.

prior to the webjam (i call it something different every time), we had a sweet turkey dinner over at seans aunts. his cousins kelsey and kaitlyn are the shit (they paid me to say that) and the stuffing turned out amazing. apparently its made from hot dog buns, french onion soup, and some other random vegetables. i normally hate stuffing but if u ever get your hands on aunt colleens recipe, i highly reccommend it.

ok ill stop here since sean is writing too.

ps Mystery is the new fad
-------------------------------------------------
greg is an idiot and skipped 38... therefore we will not call upon 40 prematurely, but give 39 twice the fame. f*** 38 i guess.

i find it very odd when the web cam gets to be delayed about 4 or 5 minutes. it's like we're living in the future and nobody else knows what's going to happen until they catch up to us, but even then they've never caught up... we're always miles ahead in our own world. it feels as if talking or doing anything is just pointless because by the time you hear the words that i've said, they just dont matter anymore. every time i would think to say something i would look at the camera, see myself 4 minutes ago and think, "oh crap they can't even hear me cuz we're in the future"... but the truth was... soon you'd hear me... soon you would hear everything.

creepy.

39. sega + d-cross

So I'm chillin with my boy Sega (coolest name ever) winding down after a freezing night in nyc. My face might fall off. Earlier today sean and i were in the studio wrapping up the mixing to "So Bad". The song sounds pretty solid, so i think theres a good chance we'll be posting it. Afterwards we went out for pizza (the first of 3 pizza meals today) then sat around my bros apartment waiting to go out. We bar hopped for awhile, ran into David Cross (IMDB him), spent a ton of money on beer ($6 a beer in nyc) then ended up at the diner around 3am. I think sean ate 4lbs of cheese in the last 8 years yet some how he always has abs! <--bastard

Tomorrow we're hittin urban outfitters to return some jeans then back home to get ready for this live acoustic webshow at 9pm. So don't forget! Be here and be ready to make some passionate love. 9pm Eastern Standard Time

Stay sexy,

37. New Leaf

i have to catch a train soon to nyc. today we mix a demo and i decide if it's crappy enough to keep from all of you... chances are it will be and i apologize in advance, but this gives us all much more to look forward to.

last night i was colder than i've been yet this young winter and now i have a serious objective to come home with a jacket that actually keeps me warm. i saw something nice and blue last time i was down at urban outfitters, but i was too scared to pull the trigger. i hope it's still available.

there's a new amazing tea at the deli near us called "new leaf." it is love.

that's it! sean

36. hello my name is...

...ar
sean is making me introduce myself
I am the guest blogger tonight
and the guest star in his life
and greg's
and steve's
and yours
you are so lucky!

we have been writing this song and it finally came together after like 10 hours of nothing... it's a booty shaker

it feels like we're running in circles woah woah woah woah woah woah

be so thankful that you can't smell this room!
unless you are one of those kinky, freaky types...
whatever floats your boat, right?
this conversation is sort of one-sided.  I ought not propose questions that are begging to remain unanswered in this moment.  by the time you respond,  I will consider the point moot, and your thoughts will be rendered completely irrelevant, long before they even leave your mind.  I have all of the upper hand in this relationship we have going here.  If I were you, I'd somehow manipulate a little leverage to work with, so that you could stand a chance against me.  Because as of now, you stand no chance.  I've already defeated you.

they'll never let me blog here again

35. Short and Sweet

We don't really have much to say tonight. Today was boring and uneventful. The only thing that is worth mentioning is our new radio promotion team. Anyone who is interested in taking part in helping us get radio play early next year should go to this myspace address:  www.myspace.com/maradiosupportteam  They will be helping us out when "These are the nights" hits radio in early 2008. So be sure to add them. I'm tired. Off to bed. Talk to you tomorrow.

34. The Unicorn

i'm going to bed early tonight... no eggs, no cheese, just sleep. actually i'm going to read a bit first because i'm not tired just yet. there's 5 opened books at the side of my bed that i started and haven't finished. that's kind of like the way i write songs. i've got so many unfinished songs waiting to be tied up, and i just keep starting others... and then i finish bits and pieces of the old ones until they're done. it's an interesting process.

anyway there's a new shirt in our store and it's effing bright! it's not in stock until tomorrow or something, but there's a holiday special going on where you get the new shirt and the CD for 15 bills... click the picture to check it out. that's all for now. night night!! -sean

33. i <3 kate beckinsale

...but she's married and i'm angry, so i'm writing a song about it.

speaking of which... steve wrote a pretty verse on piano today and i sang a fun melody over it... the tempo happened to be similar to the likes of a chorus we've had for a while. it was a match made in heaven. i love when that happens... it's usually how our best songs come to be. two creatures from two different worlds coming together to form 1 beautiful song. well at least that's what i hope you'll think.

november has been lame so far... we wanna get into the studio and see some action... today i got out of bed at 6pm, went to the gym, played a little piano, and now i'm here blogging at 7am. i dont even know what the hell happened today? was there even a today? am i delirious cuz i dont see sunlight? anyway... we'll do some live broadcasts when we're in the studio in december... but for now we're going to stay lame and you're gonna pretend to like it.

go eat some quinoa, it's good for you!

32. grilled cheese sandwiches

tonight was crazy. we never expected so many people to check out our webchat. at one point we had 700 users in the chat room and over 5,000 users viewing the webcam. we'll definitely have to make some changes though. the quality will be improved and we'll try to slow down the chat room so its easier to hear everyone out! also we'll test some music in it this week so we can rock an acoustic song or two next Sunday.

so i bought a new stapler today. i also got an assortment of neon staples to go with it. the everyday low price from wal-mart came to $13.11 including the 7.375% ny sales tax. kind of expensive but if you saw this stapler you'd understand. tomorrow i have physical therapy for my shoulder. i think i screwed it up when i was a wrestler jock in high school. oh well, PT is fun... you just lay there and get massaged. life could be worse.

ok im out this

31. house of loud studio

today we went to jersey to "house of loud" studio to take a little tour and converse with mr. bendeth. this will soon be our stomping ground for a few days while we record "these are the nights." the place was a fricken labyrinth, and i think greg is gonna be able to find some fun things to do while we're all hard at work ;). we listened to some sick paramore, red jumpsuit, and breaking benjamin beats to try and figure out what kind of sounds we're going for in the instrumentation. we need a sick nasty drummer to play on the track, a couple of symphony string players, and a grand piano which rests at a neighboring studio. it's going to be a nice little journey but the finish looks bright. i have to wake up bright and early (1pm) for the giants game, which means i could be passed out for this live chat steve and greg have planned out. if you have any questions just wake me up and i will come down and answer them for you!

30. bend it!

hellooo sweetums. it's 3am... i'm on my way to bed (early for me i know)... but we're all VERY excited to meet David Bendeth in 12 hours. He's producing our newly recorded version of "These are the Nights" which will hit radio in early '08. He's only an hour away from us and he's done so many amazing things... we're psyched.

i'm thinking about holding some sort of contest or drawing in celebration of the song being rereleased where we...

1. take apart my old, out-of-tune piano that we wrote the song with...

2. give away the 88 keys signed by us!!! how fun!!! (this has video blog written all over it)

that means 88 winners... but you have to buy the single to be in the drawing. we'll figure out all the details soon. bed time for me.

laaaaaaaaater,

29. blue fish bubble gum

definitely over-ate! every thanksgiving i eat wayyy too much but it was worth it. so steve and i were thinking... this sunday (the 25th) at 9pm EST we are going to stream a live webcast from our house. we dont have any plans for it yet but we just want to hang out with you all. so this sunday, just come to our myspace and the video feed with chatroom will located at the top of our page. you can type whatever you want in the chatroom while we make fools of ourselves on the camera : )

im at the jersey shore right now watching sportscenter over and over again because i lost the remote. prior to sportscenter i watched mean girls... good old lindsey lohan. i guess youre supposed to be worthless on thanksgiving but im ready to get out of here and get back into the daily grind. im going to go grab some more bagel chips and hummus then im off to bed.

28. Happy Thanksgiving

hey all. steve here. its 330 am and thats really late for me. sean and greg are night owls. not me. i just got home from a night out on the town. the night before thanksgiving is widely known as the biggest bar night of the year. so i went out and saw a lot of my friends from high school. it was really fun.

so this is the time of year we are supposed to give thanks. im thankful for a lot of things. my health, family, friends, and my charming good looks. but i also want give thanks to all of YOU. all of you who listen to our music. all of you who spread the word about our music. from the bottom of our hearts.....it means the world to us. we couldnt do it without you. so thank you.

im off to bed now. im sure there are a ton of spelling/grammar mistakes in this blog and you can all make fun of me tomorrow. i hope everyone has a safe and healthy thanksgiving : )

27. new jersey

i grew up in new jersey so i came back for thanksgiving. right now im watching my little brother play mario galaxy which apparently is "the best game ever." im not a big gamer so i cant really give my opinion on it.

in a week or so we're going to stream a live acoustic set and q&a. all of you will be able to ask us questions in the chat room while we chill back and try throw you some answers. i showed the software to our label pres today and he was diggin it. i think it will really change the dynamics of the music industry and the way bands interact with their fans as the internet progresses.

did anyone see that jonas brother fall on the AMA's the other night? i felt so bad! not mention he fell into broken glass... thats rough. ok sleep so i can make it to the bar for high school reunion time tomorrow (i think this is a fact... tomorrow is the biggest bar night of the year? unless anyone knows otherwise)

26. twenty-three

i just turned 23. birthdays are now officially not cool. i think next year i'm going to start at 21 again. although i am excited for the cookie cake this weekend... it's been a while since i've indulged.

our router is broken and we've all been sharing this one computer to get online. it's been hell but we get a new one tomorrow. we did a little live web cast thingy yesterday, which was cool as hell. we're going to schedule a couple of acoustic songs to be played on there in the near future... should be fun. the flashflashrevolution.com people keep hooking us up with all this cool crap before they take it to a larger scale. we're their little beta testers and it's awesome! thanks guys. we just have to figure out how to stop the mic from peaking when i sing too loud. there are layers of tape over the holes but it still peaks! we might have to tone down the performance.

i think that's it... i'm hoping this work week brings some kind of decent news but probably not since it's thanksgiving. turkey is sweet.

25. K-BAGS

friday night:
alright... so i go out to this bar in a neighboring town of ours with a few friends (johana, kristen, and elise) and steve. we get there early so we actually claim a table for the night, which is usually unheard of for us. steve's girlfriend (jeanna) met us there and we all decide to play a game of quick draw. that's the lotto game that goes off every minute in the bar and ends at midnight. it's 11:57 and we get our games in right before it all ends. steve and his gf share a game and i play one with johana and kristen. i win nothing... steve and his gf win 275$!!!!! WTF!! lucky bastards. so they leave w/ their winnings and i stick around.

anyway... later i'm waiting in line for the bathroom and this dude is taking forever... so when a girl comes out of the girls br, i go in. (there's nobody else in line at this point and they're both 1 man bathrooms anyway). i get out of the bathroom and this girl (who i think is cute) gives me this ridiculous attitude about using the girls bathroom. i sarcastically tell her that it's ok cuz i put the seat down but she was still giving me 'tude. i was furious but she had already entered the bathroom so i couldn't plead my case at that point. anyway, later in the night i see her come out of the MENS BATHROOM!!! oh it was now my time to get it on. i go up to this girl and confront her about the whole thing, and she tells me to stop pointing at her and walks past me, not listening to a word i have to say!!! SO ANGRY!!! (and drunk). by the end of the night i find this girl again and she's settled down. she's asking me why she's supposed to be nice and telling me i'm an a-hole. i'm really hating her but i'm still attracted to her and i'm still arguing. then her stupid boyfriend comes up and takes a hold of her w/o saying a word to me. he was the lead singer of the BAD cover band that played BAD songs earlier in the night. so i told them both to check out my band when they got home and i left the bar.

now it's 6:30 in the morning and i'm eating eggs... what a surprise.

loves you alls,
sean

24. frog legs

so i'm currently residing at 88 second avenue in nyc aka my older brothers apartment. ive spent the last two nights here going out with his friends. it's fun because you never have any idea who you are going to meet... as opposed to back home (the suburbs), you know exactly what youre going to get every time you go to the local bars. there fore, im an advocate for this random saying i heard, "the suburbs are no place for someone who's single." the suburbs are great for everything else though! <=completely random rant

im not sure if have any band news to report. i talked to our lawyer Friedman earlier tonight and he had me send over my resume. im thinkin about working part time for a record label in the city since we have so much down time. it would be nice to get out of the house a couple of days out of the week until we're touring full time again.

ok i think thats all. i drank responsibly 2 nights in a row so this blog should be coherant.. if not, bite me<3

23. six six six

that's my p.o. box... 666. and now myspace is allowing us to have 6 songs on our profile so we posted up "all of yours" for the time being. and my high school football number was 6... and hopefully i'll be in bed by 6.

oh joy another commute to nyc and back. i finished up vocals on another demo... it sounds pretty good. if the mix comes out awesome then we'll post it. if it's not as good as it should be then we might just wait for the real thing. i hate posting demos cuz then everyone claims that the newer one isn't as good and that's usually the wrong answer. you just got used to the old crappier one and don't accpet change. change is good, especially when the change IS good. anyway, i'm rambling because there's nothing going on in our lives at the moment. now I'M bored in the house alone w/ nothing but sleep to look forward to. so i'm going to put my headphones on and jam out for a bit cuz that's all i can do to be productive... just keep writing. otherwise we're just waiting... these label folk make you wait a lot, so when it comes to the point when it's not time to wait anymore, you'd better be ready with something!! so i'm gonna go get ready.

maybe we'll bring the camera out tomorrow night.

22. easy does it

so we got the producer we wanted. he's done some amazing things, so we have high hopes for recording with him next month. i'll let you know more on monday after we finalize the details and know exactly when its all goin down!

today was pretty gross out. rainwindycoldness... it sucked. sean woke up around 530pm then went to sleep at 1130pm. how's that even possible? not to mention steve had to work tonight (he works part time at one of donald trumps golf courses driving some sweet cars). so basically i had the place to myself which can get extremely boring! after watching 4 episodes of Run's House and practicing my bass lesson from earlier today, i think im going to head to bed.

late
-g

ps i think we're going to be in nyc tomorrow night (friday) so expect a miserable sean blog shortly after. (he hates going to the city with a passion)

pps we have two new shirts being produced now. they should be up in our online store late next week... just in time for xmas;)

21. brock jobe

ok this pretty much describes our night...

it looks like we're jamming and writing new songs but we didn't really get anything done. instead sean went to the diner with richman and got some cheese fries w/gravy (aka death on a plate) while i watched gotti's way and did a little ab workout.

so out of no where tonight Avery (president of our label) calls me to discuss our producer situation. we only have 45 days to get into the studio so we have decide on a producer asap. we have a couple in mind but we are striving to get someone in particular. hopefully we'll have this settled tomorrow!

ok thats all for now. i have my alarm set for 12:30pm to practice before my 3pm bass lesson... hopefully i won't sleep through it.

peace

20. the worst blog ever

today adam is going to wake me up at around 3pm and we're going to write a new song... maybe finish up an old idea... maybe get absolutely nothing done.

yesterday (the day that i am still living in right now) was quite uneventful. i went to the gym, played darts at a bar, and i just finished up two delightful egg and cheese sandwhiches. it's the boar's head cheese that really does me in. i'm completely addicted...

-this carrie underwood song is sweet... chilling keychange in the second chorus...

-you all have to join our facebook group so we can send mass messages to you with news besides just bulletins. bulletins are weak...

that's all i got for now... we're going to practice our video blogging.

19. video blog!?

i messed around with the camera this morning and created a video blog. we'll try and do more... hopefully better ones. we're newbies still. three new characters are introduced today (Erin, Chelsea, and Maggie)

enjoy!

18. much thanx

i can't begin to thank you all enough for the mass amount of positive feedback on the new song, even if you just came by to give it a listen. it's amazing to know that whether we put music out on a label or independently, it will be received with such loyal support. THANK YOU!!<3!!

(yes we know that wrongest isn't a word, but songwriting gives you "poetic license." this means the power to change the english language however you see fit. hanson made up mmmbop and we all took that quite nicely.)

i spent all day in nyc working on another demo. i've explained this before, but i'm working with a couple of NYU recording students on a "class project" that involves them finding a band and recording a song. we thank them for reaching out to us! it's an acoustic version of a song we've been playing on tour called "So Bad." A few of you have heard it before and have asked us to record and post it... so... we shall! this will be the last demo that we put up for you guys before we release something FULL. today we worked with 3 string players (violin, viola, cello)(those are actually their names)(no not really) who came in on less than a week's notice and learned their parts TODAY! it was an awesome experience. i'm excited for the final product. the song has a very organic, intimate feel so far. all that is left is for me to sing and for it to be mixed. hopefully we can have it up before mid-december?

anyhoo... next time you order pizza, have them heat it up and then put extra COLD mozzarella on top afterwards. i learned this when i visited a friend at oneonta. the contrast is amazing.

tell friends to subscribe to our daily blog... we're gonna start making them interesting soon with vids and pix and stuff!

17. NEW SONG!

Hello everyone. Steve here. We posted a new song/demo for you guys to hear. Its been quite some time since we've put up something new. There are plenty more songs to be heard and hopefully we can show them to you soon. Keep in mind this is a demo version. We did it with our friend Adam Richman in his home studio. We are in the middle of searching for a producer to re-record "These are the Nights" for its radio debut in early 2008. We are excited about the next couple months and want to thank everyone for the continued support. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. Enjoy the song!

15. The Delicious Dish

I'm not really sure what we accomplished today but Sean and I did make it to the mall. I picked up a pair of black on black Vans Authentics to rock with my BDG Skinnies. We figure it's time we start dressing with a little style rather than the college frat kids we always looked like (we werent cool enough for frats though). So, our town is pretty small. Most people that were born here, end up raising their kids here so basically everyone knows everyone (which enables news to travel really fast). Two days ago we posted a blog about Universal. Ever since, we've been congratulated non-stop around town. It's a pretty awesome feeling, mainly because these were the people that believed in us and packed the house to our first ever show 2 years ago.

Anyway, we were all starving so I just made some whole wheat mini shell noodles with some eggs. I'm not really sure if this is a common thing but eggs and noodles are two of my favorite things so why not... and it tasted pretty solid. I just made this mailing list, its at the bottom left of our myspace. Sign up fools.

Ok I think thats all I got. Stay fresh

14. my comp sucks

ok so i was just about to post this nice blog that i had written when my computer went completely blue seconds before shutting down. so lemme recap...

a. there's something annoying in the back of my throat right now and i can't sing, aka i'm useless so i'm gonna go read... maybe there will be some interesting words or some type of inspiration there...

b. today was boring as hell

c. we're back on the myspace top artist charts so we're going to post that new song that was playing in our video on sunday. it's just a demo and it's not your typical MA song (there's plenty of those to come) but we still love it. i wrote it with a friend (adam richman).

if anybody has some unusual/interesting/not-typical-in-a-song-but-would-still-be-cool-in-a-song words to share, then comment them in this blog... maybe i can incorporate a few that i like... then you can say you helped me write a song! fun

and drink your pomegranate juice!!!!

thanks kids,

13. Signed, Sealed, Delivered

Today was fun. We first attended the Tech-Ad conference in NYC. We mingled and collected free swag from all the companies then drank Friendster's free beer. I'm not really sure why we were asked to attend but it was sweet.

Then we got home and found a package on our doorstep. Inside contained 302 sheets of paper aka 5 copies of our record contract, 4 W-9's, and some other weird stuff to fill out. Long story short, we signed it and it's on its way back to....

Universal Republic Records

By the end of this week everything should be finalized and we'll be excited to call U.R. our new home. Check out this sweet vid we made.

Greg

P.S. Let us know what you think of the background music;)

12. i hate nyc

we have to go into the city tomorrow for some kind of "friendster" conference thingy. friendster is a site that competes with myspace and facebook for internet social networking. apparently they like us and they are going to help promote us and we're gonna promote them somehow and we're gonna be buddy buddies. i'm so sick of commuting to nyc... if i had to do that daily i'd be a very unhappy human. while preparing for the next "making april" release, whenever it shall be, steve and i will be writing and recording quirky, stupid (but great) songs for you to love or hate. they will be done under a different name and we'll have that site up soon.

THEORY: there's no way that we (man kind) have figured out exactly how long it takes the earth to travel around the sun and therefore our seasons are gradually shifting one way or another because of the slight error... i think probably in the direction that makes it colder later.

11. bring on the work week

i hate weekends at the moment cuz there's less shot at getting any type of good music/band news. everybody important or with something good/bad to say (besides you lovers) only says it during the week... so with no job and only the band to work on, the days mean no difference to me... so i'd rather it be a week day. last night in NYC greg got a drink at the bar that was mint chocolate chip flavored. it was pretty snazzy. today i started demoing out a song we've been playing on the road called 'so bad'. i'm doing it with some nyu recording students for a school project of theirs. so far so good... we'll keep you posted. this might be the earliest i've gone to bed in years, but i'm spent. and we've already missed a daily blog yesterday. i knew we couldn't keep this up!

k this one was lame, but i'm tired.
bye. sean

10. gangsta

we went and saw american gangster tonight. it was long as hell... slow in the beginning, but good overall. also went to the mall and got a scarf (i had $15 bucks off at express and nothing else looked good). it's gonna get cold here soon and scarves are the shiz. i'll be in nyc this weekend trying to record another demo. i'm really hungry but i'm not gonna wait for the deli to open to get eggs... it's bed time.

loves you.

9. sheet music?

yes i said it... we got the new iLife '08 for the mac and the garageband that it comes with was able to print out sheet music. so i played roses and butterflies, put all the notes in time (pain in the d), and out popped this...

play that ish

in other news, i found the most amazing black socks at wal mart... and you should eat your probiotic yogurt.

8. Sam Walton was the man.

So I didn't leave my house all day... but I did add these sweet little icons to our homepage. How sweet are those? Seriously.

We must have listened to the new demo "Wide Awake" over 40 times today. It doesn't make sense how amazing it turned out. This is my second day of hyping it but until the excitement dies down, I won't stop talking about it.

Today Sean's dad gave me a piece of venison jerky aka Deer Meat Jerky. How nasty does that sound? It's still sitting next to me, there's no way I'm touching it. It's 4:34am right now, I'm thinking about going to get some quality reading in before bed. I usually see how many pages I can read before my Ambien knocks me out… it's about 3-4 pages. My current read is The Wal-Mart Effect by Charles Fishman. My hippie friend Stephanie was giving me shit for how much I love shopping and impulse buying at Wal-Mart. So I figured I'd learn the truth about their operation. Fishman was able to uncover a ton of negative aspects within their business, but I was still inspired by Sam Walton's (founder) work ethic. Thus, I will continue going to Wal-Mart 2-3 times a week<3

Ok Happy Halloween. Late

i'm going to start subbing at the high school again cuz i'm getting poor. greg just polished off a bag of thin mints. not much going on today at all... but we were wondering if every last name that ended with MAN (friedman, richman) is of jewish origin? can anybody help us out here?

5. Come on, come on

Today was rough. Definitely a little hung-over from last night but it was still worth it. Some how Sean managed to make it into the city (nyc) to record a demo with Adam Richman. We jammed the song all week and it's unreal. So our lawyer and good friend Daniel R Friedman, who likes to be referred to as "the show", called us this morning and asked us to record it asap. Apparently he will be meeting with another label tomorrow in NYC and they're expecting new music from us. Thus we're keeping our fingers crossed that the new song is what they're looking for. We'll keep you updated;)

Soon we're going to start searching for a new drummer. So if you happen to have anyone in mind, don't hesitate to let us know. We'll give more details shortly!

So I'm addicted to a bunch of websites that I check like 10 times a day. One of them is Break.com because their top 10 daily videos are always solid. Here are two funny ones from today that you need to watch...

http://www.break.com/index/trinity-football-15-laterals-miracle-play.html

http://www.break.com/index/hilarious-flight-attendant-routine.html

We'll be chillin at the Urban Outfitters on the lower east side of Manhattan tomorrow if anyone wants to say hello. Ok I'm out.

4. Halloween Partiage

Yo,

Sean and I just got back from a halloween party and some bars. I was Scuba Steve and he was a dalmatian (3rd year in a row). It was a fun night. We're both going to be hurtin tomorrow so please dont call and wake us up.

We've been chatting with a bunch of the members on thedailychorus. It's fun. I recommend you check out that site www.thedailychorus.com

So I don't write much of the music (besides the bass parts) but I must say, Seans new creations are sounding amazing. I can't wait to hit the studio. A few of the tracks are demo'd out. Hopefully in the next week or so, we'll post them up and see what you all think...

Aight, it's 5:18am and I need to go to bed now or else I'll never see daylight tomorrow.

Happy Halloween Y'all
-Greg

3. more writing and a reply

did a lot more writing today with adam... we finished all of the music for a song and we're finishing up the lyrics tomorrow. if we get back on the myspace top artist charts then we might post up one of our demos. we were booted from the charts a little while ago for embedding our player in one of our bulletins. all of our plays and profile views were also put back to 0. it was one of those things that you just look at and your heart drops and you're in awe of what the hell just happened. but i think they're letting us compete again. so if they do we'll give you guys another song to play... greg and i are going to a halloween party tomorrow. i'm a dalmation for the 3rd year in a row.

we took some heat today for yesterday's blog on thedailychorus.com. people were telling us that we were dumb for even thinking about a deal like that and that we were laying all of our cards out on the table. would it be better if we signed a full deal with a major and lost all control of every song we owned possibly never seeing radio and being shelved? THAT is what destroys careers. not only are we getting guaranteed radio play and money WHILE owning our entire 10 song album that we already created (that means when people hear our song on the radio and they go to buy other music from the band, they buy it directly from us!)... but also if they decide not to pick us up, we get full control of our band again to keep doing what we're doing in a changing industry. the fact that we do so well on our own makes this type of deal even sweeter. it guarantees that we can't be bought, put aside and never thought about again.

it's time for an egg and cheese. night night

2. deal or no deal?

ok so here's our situation. We once had a deal with a major... for like 5 minutes... but majors do this funny thing where they dont really mean what they say, so that was gone, BUT the major still offered us some kind of "deal." It's called a singles deal. We've been negotiating it for the past few weeks now. What happens here is... the label pays us to own one of our songs (in this case "these are the nights") and agrees to put it to radio in the first quarter of 2008. If they like what's going on with us and the song and whatever else at the time, they have the option to follow through with the rest of the contract and pick us up as an artist. They get a certain amount of time to make this decision. If they decide against it, we walk away and we get our song back. Seems like a win/win kinda right? We would rerecord and remix the song right after we sign... Sooooo unless another label prez decides to jump in with a sweeter deal, this is the route we will be taking to further our band's career.

Adam (songwriter) is coming back over tomorrow for the weekend to write some more. We might post a demo of one of the first songs we wrote together in the near future.

I have a serious addiction to those Linden's cookies that come in packs of three. I'm thinking about jogging around the block but it's getting cold.

decisions decisions...

1. i'm writing

Ok there are three main characters in this blog... Steve, Greg, and Sean (that's me). There once was a Tom, but him and our band have mutually parted ways. sad i know... Today was a songwriting day. A songwriter by the name of Adam Richman (myspace.com/ar) came over to attempt to cowrite some music with me. We've written two songs in the past and it's been great. He knows more about music than I do so we try and combine his knowledge with my melody and create good things. Today was somewhat productive... ideas are flowing. You're probably wondering when the hell you're going to get some new music out of us. Well there's a lot of different scenarios that could take place in the coming months. We're in deep conversation with two major labels. I'll talk more about that tomorrow... but know that we have many great songs that i'm excited to let you hear. And i recently bought this Pumpkin butter stuff that i put on toasted 9 grain bread with some cinnamon. frickin amazing.

peace kids,
