110. straw face

hi HI HIYA! So its been a while. We’d like to apologize for that. We have been busy working hard on the road. I’m coming at you from the front seat of the MA tour van in route to Denver, Colorado. It’s going to be our first time playing in Colorado so we’re really pumped. Tonight we played in Peoria, Illinois and met a ton of cool people and had a great time. Before the show all of us went out to eat and sean caught a video of me shooting my straw wrapper into gregs face. We have been waiting a long time to catch this on video so we decided to share it with you all.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=7ZgCS7ZXjwg

As for other news.........we have a big month coming up. Aside from all the touring, "These are the Nights" will officially be hitting radio nationwide in late April. We’ll give you guys the exact date in the coming weeks. We’ll also be posting a list of all the radio stations that will be adding our song into rotation. Everyone is expected to meet their daily request quota of 15 :) JK JK.....but seriously....We would love you forever. So thats it for now. I’m gonna go grab some egg whites and hashbrowns from IHOP. We will talk to you soon :)

109. Yog Pod

my heart is raaaaaacing. i finally synced up my first ipod and took it for a jog around the block. it’s freezing and i was blowing snot all over the street but i made it back. tomorrow (later today) we’re headed into the city to talk summer tour plans with our agent AND we’re gonna check out Ludo at Bowery Ballroom. we’re stoked to see their show... and they’re playing with the reunited Presidents of the United States of America.

hope everybody had a thrilling easter... mine didn’t really feel like easter, but more like trying to run errands in stores that didn’t wanna stay open. went to petsmart and got my dog’s nails clipped and hit the diner on the way back (with mom and sister). my basket was filled with dark chocolate. yum

my heart rate is coming down... i’m gonna pass out.

108. pranks and blowouts

we were in transit to our last show of the tour. automatic loveletter was leaving us after tonight. the show was in vienna, virginia at jammin' java. we were actually on time. on the way there the van started into a slight fishtail motion that i thought was merely wind or poor weight distribution of our equipment. steve said drive it out cuz this happens all the time. a lot of funky shit happens to our van that we drive out... not this time. the fishtailing worsened and we were lucky enough to be RIGHT at a service exit with a gas station. our back right tire was blown to shreds and the back left was soon to follow. Earl from Sunoco ordered us two brand new tires and was nice enough to install them. Earl also ordered two signed, black making april shirts and cd's cuz he listens to all kinds of music except rap. 400 raping dollars later we were on our way!

we get to the show just as john is up on stage with automatic singing misery business. this was one of the many pranks that would go on throughout the night in celebration of our final show together. there were drum kits taken away mid song, mustaches drawn, musicians mocked, shirts ripped off, guitar strings cut, blankets tossed over players, vans vandalized, songs butchered in any way shape or form. you really had to be there to experience the mayhem. it was a lot of fun. we'll miss automatic loveletter, but we'll be on tour with secondhand serenade all throughout april so dont miss us if we come through your area!!!

heart, sean

107. take the ferry!

tomorrow we have to say goodbye to some newly acquired friends of ours. we’ve been touring with automatic loveletter for the past few weeks and it’s been a blast. tomorrow in virginia will be our last show with them on this tour, but i’m sure there will be more in the future. i dont think juliette missed a single fucking note the entire time. i envy her skills. i’m scared to death of any pranks we have coming to us with their departure. things could get ugly.

last night we played vermont and the venue was amazing. it was fully catered for the bands and we had somewhat of a family dinner before the show. it sounded great too. good sound and good food means amazing venue. on our way home our GPS took us to a lake where it told us to "take the ferry." apparently you’re supposed to drive your vehicle onto the boat and cross into new york. well it wasn’t running at midnight so we had to go around. it tacked on another 2 hours to our trip and we didn’t get home till 6 am. today we spent all day practicing with adam richman. he’s going to be playing guitar for us tomorrow and all of april on our tour with secondhand serenade. give him a shout... myspace.com/ar

night night

106. hi i'm sarah

heyy guys! my name’s sarah. i’m from connecticut and i’m here at the webster in hartford, ct hanging out with MAKING APRIL<3 they’re so amazing and i love them and they even let me write one of their blogs! since they haven’t gotten to write in a while.. they haven’t gone on yet but i hear they’re planning on playing allll of my favorite songs! i’m so excited!! ..well i don’t know what else to say, sooo goodnight!

105. Detroit Rock City

We are on our way to Detroit right now. I'm sitting in the back of the van. This mobile internet is great. Greg is passed out next to me and sean is at the wheel. The weather has been horrible for the last few days. The roads have been covered in snow. This morning we finally managed to get our van stuck and had to push it out. Sean got his jeans destroyed from the mud that splattered from the back tire. So happy that wasnt me. We are looking forward to tonights show. Something about it just feels good. I cant quite explain it. We are also looking forward to our hometown show on friday night in new york city. I cant wait to see all of our friends and family. The fact that it sold out is exciting too : ) Well thats it for now. Talk to you all very soon. Much love from the MA tour van.

Steve

104. indyyyyyy

i think i'm healthy again. we're on our way to indiana for a show w/ a bunch of bands. we got stuck in a snow storm in arkansas last night and couldn't move. the show was canceled and now we're late to this one. the lady at the hotel counter claimed it was the most snow they had seen since '94. glad to be a part of history. now i'm sitting in the back of our van watching 40yr old virgin eating a banana. secondhand serenade isn't on this show so hopefully people still show up!

can't wait to hit the west coast warmth in april. hope to see you all out there.

sean

103. headed to nashville

hello hello. i'm coming to u from the back seat of our tour van. i hear faint relient k coming from the front as we cruise to nashville. i'm extra-pumped for this show cuz i almost have my voice back and i hear the venue is amazing. last night we played columbus, ohio and it was the first time i could sorta sing in over a week. flu fucked my shit up big time. all of the bands went out to a place called lodge bar after the show. it's fun going out on tour cuz everywhere you look there's people from your crew. the night was capped off with everybody packing into the van and riding for pizza. one of the very few perks of not having a bus is the ability to go get food when you're hungry.

hope to see you guys out at the shoooooooows!

sean

102. drive through wisconsin

last night we played chicago.. it was awesome. minus the fact that sean was sick, we still got to play for 375 kids. then we priceline.com'd a sweet hotel in the downtown area for only 80 bucks. today we're off to madison wisconsin to play at the loft. so far more than half of the shows have been sold out so get your tickets in advance if you are coming to a future show!! besides all that business, i think sean is starting to a feel a bit better, so we'll be able to play nearly a full set tonight.

secondhands bus is fun to chill on... we really need a bus:) might have to kick in tour support for next tour but i highly doubt we can justify a bus just yet. (in fact i know we cant). but anyway, i gotta pack up my laptop and head into the venue. see you soooon

g

101. sick dalmations

sorry we haven't been keeping up with the blogs on the road. it's been nearly impossible! we have to load into the venues so early every day and then by the time we get out it's so late... then we sleep a little and do it all over again. there's been strains of sickness running rampant through the tour. i got sick a few days ago and thought i was finally coming off of it until last night in kentucky. by the third song my voice was blown out. i could barely speak the rest of the night. now we're in chicago and our plan is to play a chilled out acoustic set. i'm hoping i can do that much. i apologize in advance for my inabilities for the next few days. our single is now for sale on itunes and amazon so spread the word!

i'll try and keep u posted.

<333>

100. download + radio debut

today started off on the wrong foot. we drove 4 hours down to maryland only to find out our va show was canceled last minute. so we drove back to ny dissapointed and tired only to find out that our show tomorrow at the Knitting Factory in nyc was sold out!! not to mention... the va show has been rescheduled to march 18th, so it somehow all worked out.

now onto the good stuff... tonight at midnight our debut single on universal was relased on iTunes and Amazon. so please go buy it, thennnnn proceed here and comment your order number to enter the piano contest!! let us know your thoughts on the track compared to the old one:)

lastly, at 8:15am 100.7 WHUD in NYC will be airing an interview with us as well as the song for the first time on radio. we'll throw the recording up if you don't live close enough to hear it.

ok thats all for now, im super tired and rumor has it we're partyin with our label tomorrow just before the show. this could get interesting:)

night

99. allston, poughkeepsie

allston:
murphy's law... states that whatever can go wrong will go wrong. seemed about right for tonight. especially when my taylor acoustic faceplanted into the stage between songs, making it very difficult to use from then on. oh well... only the first show of many on this tour. everybody's nice as hell and we're gonna have a lot of fun. secondhand sounds awesome w/ the full band. pro.

worst ihop experience ever.

poughkeepsie:
amazing fans up in hurr. my guitar works again. saw some friends and family which was nice. really annoying that we have to go all the way to virginia just to come back here (nyc) the next day! and i'm so angry that our slap bracelets didn't come in yet you have no idea!!! i'm just tryna bring back the 90's.

passing out
sean

98. TOUR = NOW

k when i wake up i'm going to allston, rhymes with and sits near boston. then we go a bunch of other places that are listed on the front of our myspace page. check them out and come hang out if you sleep near one of those places. if you're not near one of those places, dont fret... cuz we have many other west coast and southern dates that are pending for april. KEEP CHECKING IN as we are getting constant updates about where we're supposed to be and when. i hear arizona and texas rumors. i kicked a 30 yard field goal the other night. i think i can get 40 if we find a better football.

sean

97. Cash or Credit?

Thats right folks. We will be accepting credit cards for our upcoming tour with Secondhand Serenade. VISA, MASTERCARD, and DISCOVER that is. We have some hot new items that might tickle your fancy. We just got 6 boxes of hoodies delivered and they look great. We hope to see all of you in the coming weeks. We start Saturday in Mass. and we are super excited. We haven't been on the road since September. Make sure you come hang with us after our set. And bring something healthy : ) Maybe even organic : ) You know how crazy we are about our eating habits. Its so hard to stay healthy on the road. But we are going to try our best. Remember to buy our new single "These are the Nights" from iTunes on Tuesday, February 26th........its certified organic. We love you all and we can't wait to see you! Thats all for now. Laterrrrrrrrrrrr

MA

96. full version posted

so it turns out we could have posted the full version of "These Are The Nights" from day one... apparently Universal's policy is that developing artists can post the full version of a song until its sold 250k units. as of now the song has sold 0 units, so we're good to go!

today was stressful but fun... it was fun because we secured a drummer for our upcoming tour. his name is bryan. so when you see him at the show, say hello then call him out for being awkwardly taller than the rest of us;) brendon has one more day of practice with us then hes headed back up north to play some shows with his own band. in the mean time, we'll be jammin with bryan and getting all of the merch sorted/sized.

amazing food of the day: butternut squash soup (even better when dad is paying)

-g

ps if anyone wants to challenge me in scrabulous on facebook... bring it on. just search for making april then challenge mee. im currently addicted

95. Piano Key Contest

click the picture to find out the juicy details...

aside from this nifty little contest, we've been jammin everyday all day. brendon has most of the guitar parts down but still learning the harmonies. i just made the best organic spinach & cheese raviolis... except i didnt make enough and im still hungry. we got word that our slap bracelets are going to be a few days late:/ so the first few tour dates will be braceletless. i like triscuits and cheddar cheese. if anyone needs a gift to bring me on tour, please make it that<3

do you remember typing in 55378008 into a calculator then turning it upside down? miss those days.

-g

was del paxton real?

ps check that little counter at the top of our myspace. i think its choreographed to the time on your computer. so if you turn your clock ahead, maybe youll get the single sooner?

94. eleven days till single

well this is a change of pace for me... i'm actually waking up at this time (7:30AM) as opposed to being on my way to bed. it feels odd having a full day ahead of me, as mine usually starts late in the afternoon... today is the first day of practice with our touring guitar player. he plays in Foreverinmotion, but he's gonna hang for three weeks while we make him do things he will surely regret. he will dance and sing and sign autographs on my behalf. people have mistaken us for brothers in the past. anyway, i'm psyched to start rockin out (softly).

i'm going to beat both of these points to death until this month is over... our NEW SINGLE, "These are the Nights" (new version) is available on iTunes on FEBRUARY 26th of this month. cast your loving vote for 99 cents. you won't regret it! and we've got constantly updating tour dates so make this site (makingapril.com/tour) or the front of our myspace a daily checkup!

das ittttt... for this minute

93. And it begins...sorta

hello all. steve here.......rare..... i know. hey at least you get a blog at a normal hour. so we did our first radio interview today for 100.7 WHUD which is broadcasted throughout westchester, new york city, and northern nj. i am happy to say that it went extremely well and we had a lot of fun doing it. we cant thank Kacey from the Mike & Kacey show enough. the interview will be airing on tuesday february 26th. once the interview is over, the new "these are the nights" single will be played for the very first time on radio. we are all super pumped. if any of you live in westchester county, new york..... be sure to tune in to the Mike and Kasey show on your way to work on the 26th.

now dont get too excited. "these are the nights" wont hit radio until early april in most parts of the country. our hometown stations get dibs on the song first......sorry : ( but no worries. you will all hear us soon enough......anyways im going to make some food. it was nice talking to everyone. we appreciate all of your support more than you will ever know. and remember kids......dont forget to get your fresh new making april single titled "these are the nights" from iTunes on february 26th. they say it will make you smarter and live longer....until the next time.....

92. thirteen days till single

sorry to miss a day on you... my sleeping pattern has been... no pattern actually i just take random naps at random times of the day. anyway we have a sweet little radio interview in the morning that will air in a couple of weeks to accompany the release of the new single ("these are the nights" thirteen days away). it will be on some station around here called 100.7 whud. we took a horrid, snowy, traffic-filled drive into the city to pick up our new pictures and my repaired acoustic guitar. lotta fun pics we're gonna have edited... and now i think i can play my guitar on tour which i dont usually get to do cuz it's always broken.

there's a few new tour dates added... one in michigan, couple cali's... and an indiana might be on the way!! keep watch on the front of our page. find venues and tickets here... makingapril.com/tour

alright i gotta be up in a few hours so i'm gonna go take one of those naps.

91. behind the scenes

last night we were scared.  it was 3am and we still didnt have a theme for our photoshoot.  then out of no where sean nailed it...

so we woke up extremely early to hunt down a cello, violin and a conductors batton.  luckily we found a place in the city that rented all three.  while steve scrambled to pick them up, sean and i hit urban outfitters for some last minute ideas.  we got to the studio around 1:30 to get all smoothed over by our cute little makeup artist.  soon after that we let tomaas (photographer) go to work.  4 hours later we were done.  next money we'll have the finished products.  in the mean time, check out the behind the scenes pics that our friend kurt took.

thank you to kurt, jeanna, rian, and ben for the help!

also, next sunday we are going to finally be back on our webcam!  we're thinking about playing wide awake acoustic... any thoughts?

89. some business affairs

this sunday we have our first photoshoot since april of last year.  it's about time we got some updated pics.  we are headed into a studio in midtown manhattan with this guy...
http://www.tomaasphoto.com/fashion1.html

the only thing we havent thought of yet is a theme... we were huge fans of all time low's underwear pics because that was just amazing. let us know if you have any ideas/themes?

sean and i went to whole foods today.  i picked up a fabulous loaf of fresh baked challah bread as well as some organic edamame.  rumor has it.. our label is in the process of printing up a bunch of MA white zipup hoodies for tour and the universal online store.  ill let u know when theyre ready to go.

lastlyyy, tonight we started locating the hotels we'll be staying at on the road.  hotels are fun, but staying at your house is free.  sooo if you would like us to stay at your house... drop us a message, because brian (our tour managers) paycheck is relying on that.

<3g

ps steve just got the rest of his amp today... it sure is pretty

88. cinnamon

i spent the last two hours browsing the internet for intense movie trailer music. it was awesome. i love that shit... when this band gets either too rich or too poor, that's my next endeavor. i wanna sing over the craziest orchestral epic nonsense i can put together (or get somebody to put together). tomorrow is busy as hell. i have to get to sam ash and see if they can fix my guitar before this tour. i've been putting it off for way too long. we appreciate all of the feedback on the clips of "these are the nights". it's tough to tell what the song really is from that, but you can hear it in its entirety when it is released this month. keep watch for that ish.

i've been putting cinnamon on everything lately. apparently it's great for you.

night night,

87. THESE ARE THE NIGHTS

we posted a teaser of the new version of "these are the nights" on our myspace page. it's different we know... it will take old fans some getting used to i'm sure, but we've come around... so you can too. it will be available on itunes some time this month. we'll have a big countdown on top of our myspace when we get a date. please spread the word to all associated MA fans about the new release.

tonight i cooked brown rice but it came out like oatmeal.

as always, we cherish your support

86. TICKETS

i wont even mention the game last night... i'll just let it speak for its great self. we posted up some links that should help you in getting tickets and finding out about these upcoming shows we have. we will be constantly updating it as more information flows through.

http://www.makingapril.com/tour

i wanna play guitar for this but i'm a lefty and my guitar is broken right now. the electronics create horrible noises at random. i'm hoping to get it fixed before we leave... and last time i brought it somewhere to get fixed it worked the whole damn time. that made it a little difficult to diagnose.

i feel a good week ahead... feel that?

84. 6 kids 1 van

this van is going to be a sardine box... we keep picking up strays. there's steve, greg, and I as the core 3. then there's buckley (tour management/merch-hustling whore)... then there's the drummer (whoever the hell that turns out to be)... and we just picked up a second guitar player/vocalist for the trip. he's brendon and he plays in a band called foreverinmotion... but soon he becomes our slave.

see u in tour land.

83. desert cactus

today was paint day (my dad... not us). Desert Cactus meets Autumn... something... i forget. tomorrow we're city-bound, and for once it's business-oriented. we stop in at Universal and get to hear the FINAL version of 'these are the nights'. we discuss a game plan for the song from here on out. we usually come out of meetings like this with no more knowledge then when we entered, but we're making it our goal to get at least one piece of valuable information. then adam drives me home and we write. a few more dates were added to the tour schedule today... keep checking our myspace for updated cities as they keep rolling in.

there's an awesome facebook scrabble application called scrabulous that greg and i have been playing. i'm 2 and 0 against him... "linesman" for 77 points was my dagger in our last battle royal. ya we're losers... gnight > sean

83. not worth reading

steve cooked dinner. our list of crap to do before tour didn't get much shorter. i think i checked off rechargeable batteries. that's about it.

as always, keep checking back for more tour dates... they keep growing... and might get more western.

82. west siiiiiiide

not to get anybodys hopes up, (and not to boast that we warrant high hopes) but we might find ourselves in the western half of the united states come late march/early april. we might even be hanging out at SXSW this year again. there's a lot of things that are about to happen in the next few months that i have zero clue about...

it seems like throughout my life thus far, i've been smack in the middle of my past and my future. my past was obviously what i had already done in life, and my future was pretty planned out ahead. EXAMPLE: when i was a freshman in college, i knew that my past was my past, and my future (at least for the next 3 years) was going to be more college. NOW it seems like there is no known future... there's just my past and me and i'm on the edge of a cliff... every day the cliff extends a little bit and i see what the ground (my future) looks like. i have no clue what it is until it builds itself the next day. it's interesting and fun and scary and great. here let me draw you a diagram...

old:

| P A S T | me | F U T U R E |

new:

| P A S T | me................

those dots are freaky!

80. unsocial networking :(

we got a message today from a girl asking about our success via the internet/myspace and if i had any advice for her friend (singer/songwriter). I thought about all of the steps that we took to get to where we are today, and i realized that our outline for success would not work in today's cyber world.

it seems to be a lot harder these days for new bands to spread their music online to mass amounts of people (as opposed to a couple of years back). if you had time and a work ethic 2 years ago, you could get your music to thousands of people every single day without even relying on their word of mouth to kick in.

when facebook first launched, each of us would send out HUNDREDS of messages every single day from our own accounts linking people to our band's purevolume.com page. now there's a cap on how many messages you can send via facebook before they flag you and threaten to delete your account. it's also a lot harder to search people. all we had to do was pick a college and type in a similar music interest as us, and we could go to town on these people. it was an amazing outlet. i think purevolume was a lot more popular back then too. i had a facebook account deleted some time last year for sending out like 15 messages or so.

we also used to add hundreds of myspace friends per day very easily, but that has also gotten a lot more difficult. you have to type in codes every few requests and with all of the spam and porn profiles circulating, everybody has their security options on full protection.

although we put in a lot of effort over the past few years, we also got very lucky that we emerged when we did. the social networking scene has tightened its leash quite a bit. it used to be a free for all, now there's blockade after blockade. you really have to get creative and find new and more powerful ways to promote yourself...

when we had less friends on myspace and less to do, we could also respond to people's messages and comments in no time. it's a lot harder for us recently to get back to every comment and it takes months sometimes for us to clear out our inbox. eventually a band does have to write and practice and fans have to understand that... ESPECIALLY the ones that haven't even bought your music. so if your comment goes unanswered like many do or your message hasn't been responded to in over a month, we're sorry but we still love you immensely! come to a show and you can talk our ear off! we dont even bite most of the time.

sean

Friday, January 25, 2008

79. sorry philly :(

my deepest apologies go out to our many philadelphia residing fans. for reasons beyond our control, the show that we had scheduled for the troc in march has been canceled. this has happened in the past and we've yet to come play for you, and we are sorry. we hope to make an appearance before the end of the year.

we're still waiting on more march tour dates so please keep checking back for them on our myspace so you're not one of the ones asking "why dont you come play in ______" the day after we play there. (i hate that)

"these are the nights" is going through mix madness and still has no radio release date... you will be the first to know when our campaign starts!

if you're an incredible drummer who wants to be in a band, we're a band... make a video and let us check you out!

ps. the warroom (as many have been inquiring) is the room we write, record, get work done, talk to you guys in. it's been under construction and we just got new carpet.

adam came over today. we practiced Wide Awake atleast 35 times while he sat and nitpicked at every aspect of our performance in an attempt to achieve perfection. the song sounds amazing; now all we need is a drummer to come on tour with us. i guess we should probably start looking;) if you know any amazing drummers, send them our way.
tomorrow we are getting a plush new carpet installed in the warroom. exciting right?

77. jacey em 8 hundy

today was a loooong day. we woke up early and went down to jersey to pick up a new amp head for steve. he bought it from ebay. it's a jcm800. we love that amp... we've heard it doesn't work for our sound... and we disagree. then we had to do hours of design work for merch and tour poster stuff and of course, slap bracelets.

tomorrow is another long day of practice, practice, practice.

it's 6:20 in the morning... i'm dead. bye

76. bag it

thanks for all of the suggested locations for us to tour, but on this tour we have no control of location. we will get a list of tentative dates in the near future and that is where we will be! hopefully it all works out...

today i was at the gym watching "deal or no deal" on the treadmill in closed captioning. one of the shows had 9 million dollar cases. i didn't get to see the ending though... there were a lot of amusing [ AUDIENCE GROANS ] and [ CROWD CHEERS ] subtitles.

75. haha

i had fun battling some of our mid-western fans during the game today, but the giants prevailed, and you all look silly. after the games we jammed out at greg's dad's house. we're practicing up in case we have to be on tour soon. and should we go on tour and we are playing in a venue near you, COME HANG OUT WITH US!!! and if you DO make it to the show, introduce yourselves... we wanna meet you all. and if we didn't play a song you REALLY wanted to hear, we're sorry... but we'll play it acoustically for you after the show if you ask nicely ;) we wanna have fun on the road and who better to have fun with than you guys!

see you in the streets!

74. reeeeeeemix

i'm in the city... had dinner w/ adam and our lawyer at a place that took forever. had red snapper. went out... weak night. we're gonna have "practice" tomorrow cuz we just MIGHT be hitting the road soon... if we can find a drummer in time. i'm chewing on a block of sharp cheddar before bed. "these are the nights" is getting "fixed up" tomorrow. as soon as we're allowed to show you we will.

night night,

72. stop and stare

so i got this sweet new skinny tie... check it

ebay'd it from hong kong for like 4 bucks.  you can't beat that.  late last night we finished vacuuming the warroom after taking down the wall.  tomorrow we pick out some freshboy carpet as well as a couch.  then later that night we're headed up to a bar in katonah to mingle and make some new friends.

tonight we watched Deja Vu.  it's a solid movie, i highly recommend it.  also, we were picked up by a new booking agent.  his name is justin hirschman.  he's got a lot of big bands so i guess we'll be touring a bunch this year on some solid tours.

ok i need to go take my ambien and pass out or else my sleep schedule will flip flop again.  night pals

70. one million plays!!!

we finally re-enter the million mark for myspace plays today... we had over 5 million when myspace put our entire page back to 0. that was really a great day. we put a friend's music player in our bulletin and without warning, they pulled the trigger hard.

adam's coming over to write songs today.

i saw THE BEST episode of any game show i've ever seen. the show is "1 vs. 100" with bob saget. the show used to suck but they changed the rules and made it more interesting. here's an 8 minute clip of the end of the ep i saw. amazing.

69. absolutely nothing

that's right i have nothing to say. when i invented the daily blog, i figured the future of our band would hold noteworthy events and i'd be letting you in on them first hand, but the truth is... activity has never been less. i wake up, i eat food, i write, and i go out sometimes. NOTHING COOL HAPPENS!!! now my hope is that after writing this blog, our lives will somehow just blow the hell up and i will eat these boring words of mine. i feel on the verge of something... like a volcano that's got the shakes. we have a lot of great material stocked up and a song that's going to radio in the coming weeks (no date yet). as always, we'll keep you posted. a package came and i thought it was my pink tie, but it was a "new kids on the block" snap bracelet from 1991 (ask greg about that one). oh yeah and we impulse buy on ebay.

68. minnesota called

as i blog about our day of shopping at the outlet center at woodbury commons, greg is talking to some random girl from minnesota on the phone. dont know how she got our number but she talks a million miles an hour and very softly. i think that's a first for that. we're headed to get some groceries, then come back and jam. i got a sick white belt today.

we're hitting nyc tomorrow night... i think we're going to see Holiday Parade at knitting factory at 8pm.

time to make music,

67. no payments 15 months!

greg's back from vacation today. steve comes back tomorrow... it's going to feel nice to become a band again. we haven't created anything new in over a month (and to you guys... a lot longer). we've got a lot of work to do the rest of this month. our single (these are the nights) gets mastered on monday and then there's no looking back. we'll probably end up on tour this year at some point so we'd better see you out there!!!

we're doing some home renovations next week as well. we're knocking down the wall that i'm looking at right now and making our studio room bigger.

i owe Sam Ash 3 grand by the end of next month which i'm not thrilled to pay. i bought my Taylor acoustic 14 months ago... and i didn't have to pay anything for 15 months. that really creeps up on you!

65. butterfly effect

i stepped out of bed at 1:44 pm and turned on the game. the giants were down 7-0 and hadn't done a thing. from that moment on they dominated the field and finished victoriously. therefore it's safe to say that i am partly responsible for the win. i will help them next week as well.

going through red lights freaks me out... of course i dont make a habit of this, but when i'm driving late at night in a small town, i tend to just go when i'm not supposed to. but there's something about the power of a red light and my disregard for it at that moment that is kind of scary. maybe i just took 10 years off of my life... or maybe i just added 20. either way i've most likely changed the course of time and i have no idea if it was for better or worse. now, steve brings up a great point in saying that there are routine things in a day that balance out my neglect for the traffic signal. if i worked for a living and punched out at exactly 3:30 every single day, then we're back to where we would be despite the incident. but if some event happened before that balance point that would not have happened had you stayed and waited for green, then you're screwed... or you're saved. if you get home 30 seconds earlier than you would have cuz u said screw the light, and you catch some ad on TV that you wouldn't have seen which prompts you to... um go to ikea the next day? then ur whole world is different. you could say this about any event that you do or dont do, but there's something about red lights that REALLY freak me out. it's like slapping time in the face... i'm too good for time and fate and what it has in store for me. who do i think i am?

and then i was like... i'm a rock star i dont need red lights. so now i speed past them.

64. playoffs?

that's right... giants vs. buccs. some kid at the bar tonight told me the giants didn't have a shot cuz the buccs dont give up a lot of points at home. what an idiot.

anyway tonight was fun. people in general amused me. no good details to expose...

but i learned that sometimes an arrogant ho just needs to be negged. ya know?

sincerely,
sean

63. poor girl

tonight my friend chris and i did the townie bar hop. a drink at each of 3 local "hot" spots. at one of the bars it was us two and the bartender. it was beyond excitement... however the end of the night held some slight entertainment. we were at a diner w/ some girls in which one of them was passed out on the table. her friends were making onion rings into hair ties and abusing her w/ condiments. being a light weight is very dangerous around here.

now i crave snapple raspberry white tea and we dont have any. so i will sleep it off.

tomorrow's got the same forecast written all over it. see you then!
sean

ps. somebody we know thought up an interesting game called fantasy bar hopping. you draft people from your town who you're most likely to see at the local bar/establishment and get points for them being there and more points for acknowledgments. devise your own custom rules, draft yourself a townie, and go hoppin.

62. it's freezing here

k i've finished up my project for the night. too much music fries my brain... just had some eggs... i'm thinking about hitting the gym before bed. is that crazy?

tried to exchange my ipod today for one that actually works, but of course they were all out. so i got a gift card for that amount and i have to come back and get it when they're in. annoying!!

it's so cold here... it makes everything so difficult. i wanna just go out and go where i need to go without COLD screwing it all up and making it a process. and i dont wanna hear about your warm climate you live in either... unless you're inviting me to come live with you.

thank you all for the phone service suggestions! apparently this is more difficult than i thought.

this day was lame... label prez loves the new version of "these are the nights" though. hope they give it a sweet push. i need a good reason to tour and come see u kids.

night nights

61. carolina's rain

today i used my 100 gift certificate to whole foods and bought a ton of edible crap.

greg left for florida so now i'm officially alone in this house for a week.

my ipod nano is broken and i just got it for christmas... i'll be returning it for another when i wake up.

i just set back up my digital piano to mess around with one of rookie of the year's new songs. i'm in love w/ this demo they have and they're letting me put some fun orchestral sounds in to see if i can enhance what's there. they're recording a new cd in feb and i think and i might go down for a few days to hang.

i felt the urge to buy a skinny pink tie on ebay so i did.

greg thinks we should make neon green snap bracelets for our online store and future shows. i dig...

my nextel contract is over in a month... what's the best phone/plan to get next?

60. so this is the new year...

...and i dont feel any different. no that's not true i feel rejuvenated. i feel ready to take '08 on like the little bitch that it is. i'm gonna own '08... and i'm bringing you all with me.

i've been having songwriter withdrawal for the past couple of weeks. my digital piano hasn't been in my house and my real piano is growing more out of tune every passing day. i haven't even put a musical thought together since i can remember. our studio week(s) and the holidays have drained us all, but i'm psyched to get into the swing again.

steve leaves for utah today for a big snowboarding trip with kurt and company and greg goes to florida in a couple of days. i'm gonna be all alone for like a week! and i pretty much have no other friends so this could get depressing. plus the music industry has been off since before christmas and probably wont start working again till monday. it's been really dead!

but my new years eve was good and i hope all of you had a good time as well...

here's a cool jack's mannequin video... i'm excited for his next work.
