110. straw face

hi HI HIYA! So its been a while. We’d like to apologize for that. We have been busy working hard on the road. I’m coming at you from the front seat of the MA tour van in route to Denver, Colorado. It’s going to be our first time playing in Colorado so we’re really pumped. Tonight we played in Peoria, Illinois and met a ton of cool people and had a great time. Before the show all of us went out to eat and sean caught a video of me shooting my straw wrapper into gregs face. We have been waiting a long time to catch this on video so we decided to share it with you all.

As for other news.........we have a big month coming up. Aside from all the touring, "These are the Nights" will officially be hitting radio nationwide in late April. We’ll give you guys the exact date in the coming weeks. We’ll also be posting a list of all the radio stations that will be adding our song into rotation. Everyone is expected to meet their daily request quota of 15 :) JK JK.....but seriously....We would love you forever. So thats it for now. I’m gonna go grab some egg whites and hashbrowns from IHOP. We will talk to you soon :)

109. Yog Pod

my heart is raaaaaacing. i finally synced up my first ipod and took it for a jog around the block. it’s freezing and i was blowing snot all over the street but i made it back. tomorrow (later today) we’re headed into the city to talk summer tour plans with our agent AND we’re gonna check out Ludo at Bowery Ballroom. we’re stoked to see their show... and they’re playing with the reunited Presidents of the United States of America.

hope everybody had a thrilling easter... mine didn’t really feel like easter, but more like trying to run errands in stores that didn’t wanna stay open. went to petsmart and got my dog’s nails clipped and hit the diner on the way back (with mom and sister). my basket was filled with dark chocolate. yum

my heart rate is coming down... i’m gonna pass out.

108. pranks and blowouts

we were in transit to our last show of the tour. automatic loveletter was leaving us after tonight. the show was in vienna, virginia at jammin' java. we were actually on time. on the way there the van started into a slight fishtail motion that i thought was merely wind or poor weight distribution of our equipment. steve said drive it out cuz this happens all the time. a lot of funky shit happens to our van that we drive out... not this time. the fishtailing worsened and we were lucky enough to be RIGHT at a service exit with a gas station. our back right tire was blown to shreds and the back left was soon to follow. Earl from Sunoco ordered us two brand new tires and was nice enough to install them. Earl also ordered two signed, black making april shirts and cd's cuz he listens to all kinds of music except rap. 400 raping dollars later we were on our way!

we get to the show just as john is up on stage with automatic singing misery business. this was one of the many pranks that would go on throughout the night in celebration of our final show together. there were drum kits taken away mid song, mustaches drawn, musicians mocked, shirts ripped off, guitar strings cut, blankets tossed over players, vans vandalized, songs butchered in any way shape or form. you really had to be there to experience the mayhem. it was a lot of fun. we'll miss automatic loveletter, but we'll be on tour with secondhand serenade all throughout april so dont miss us if we come through your area!!!

107. take the ferry!

tomorrow we have to say goodbye to some newly acquired friends of ours. we’ve been touring with automatic loveletter for the past few weeks and it’s been a blast. tomorrow in virginia will be our last show with them on this tour, but i’m sure there will be more in the future. i dont think juliette missed a single fucking note the entire time. i envy her skills. i’m scared to death of any pranks we have coming to us with their departure. things could get ugly.

last night we played vermont and the venue was amazing. it was fully catered for the bands and we had somewhat of a family dinner before the show. it sounded great too. good sound and good food means amazing venue. on our way home our GPS took us to a lake where it told us to "take the ferry." apparently you’re supposed to drive your vehicle onto the boat and cross into new york. well it wasn’t running at midnight so we had to go around. it tacked on another 2 hours to our trip and we didn’t get home till 6 am. today we spent all day practicing with adam richman. he’s going to be playing guitar for us tomorrow and all of april on our tour with secondhand serenade. give him a shout... myspace.com/ar

106. hi i'm sarah

heyy guys! my name’s sarah. i’m from connecticut and i’m here at the webster in hartford, ct hanging out with MAKING APRIL<3 they’re so amazing and i love them and they even let me write one of their blogs! since they haven’t gotten to write in a while.. they haven’t gone on yet but i hear they’re planning on playing allll of my favorite songs! i’m so excited!! ..well i don’t know what else to say, sooo goodnight!

105. Detroit Rock City

We are on our way to Detroit right now. I'm sitting in the back of the van. This mobile internet is great. Greg is passed out next to me and sean is at the wheel. The weather has been horrible for the last few days. The roads have been covered in snow. This morning we finally managed to get our van stuck and had to push it out. Sean got his jeans destroyed from the mud that splattered from the back tire. So happy that wasnt me. We are looking forward to tonights show. Something about it just feels good. I cant quite explain it. We are also looking forward to our hometown show on friday night in new york city. I cant wait to see all of our friends and family. The fact that it sold out is exciting too : ) Well thats it for now. Talk to you all very soon. Much love from the MA tour van.

Steve

104. indyyyyyy

i think i'm healthy again. we're on our way to indiana for a show w/ a bunch of bands. we got stuck in a snow storm in arkansas last night and couldn't move. the show was canceled and now we're late to this one. the lady at the hotel counter claimed it was the most snow they had seen since '94. glad to be a part of history. now i'm sitting in the back of our van watching 40yr old virgin eating a banana. secondhand serenade isn't on this show so hopefully people still show up!

can't wait to hit the west coast warmth in april. hope to see you all out there.

sean

103. headed to nashville

hello hello. i'm coming to u from the back seat of our tour van. i hear faint relient k coming from the front as we cruise to nashville. i'm extra-pumped for this show cuz i almost have my voice back and i hear the venue is amazing. last night we played columbus, ohio and it was the first time i could sorta sing in over a week. flu fucked my shit up big time. all of the bands went out to a place called lodge bar after the show. it's fun going out on tour cuz everywhere you look there's people from your crew. the night was capped off with everybody packing into the van and riding for pizza. one of the very few perks of not having a bus is the ability to go get food when you're hungry.

hope to see you guys out at the shoooooooows!

sean

102. drive through wisconsin

last night we played chicago.. it was awesome. minus the fact that sean was sick, we still got to play for 375 kids. then we priceline.com'd a sweet hotel in the downtown area for only 80 bucks. today we're off to madison wisconsin to play at the loft. so far more than half of the shows have been sold out so get your tickets in advance if you are coming to a future show!! besides all that business, i think sean is starting to a feel a bit better, so we'll be able to play nearly a full set tonight.

secondhands bus is fun to chill on... we really need a bus:) might have to kick in tour support for next tour but i highly doubt we can justify a bus just yet. (in fact i know we cant). but anyway, i gotta pack up my laptop and head into the venue. see you soooon

g

101. sick dalmations

sorry we haven't been keeping up with the blogs on the road. it's been nearly impossible! we have to load into the venues so early every day and then by the time we get out it's so late... then we sleep a little and do it all over again. there's been strains of sickness running rampant through the tour. i got sick a few days ago and thought i was finally coming off of it until last night in kentucky. by the third song my voice was blown out. i could barely speak the rest of the night. now we're in chicago and our plan is to play a chilled out acoustic set. i'm hoping i can do that much. i apologize in advance for my inabilities for the next few days. our single is now for sale on itunes and amazon so spread the word!

i'll try and keep u posted.

100. download + radio debut

today started off on the wrong foot. we drove 4 hours down to maryland only to find out our va show was canceled last minute. so we drove back to ny dissapointed and tired only to find out that our show tomorrow at the Knitting Factory in nyc was sold out!! not to mention... the va show has been rescheduled to march 18th, so it somehow all worked out.

now onto the good stuff... tonight at midnight our debut single on universal was relased on iTunes and Amazon. so please go buy it, thennnnn proceed here and comment your order number to enter the piano contest!! let us know your thoughts on the track compared to the old one:)

lastly, at 8:15am 100.7 WHUD in NYC will be airing an interview with us as well as the song for the first time on radio. we'll throw the recording up if you don't live close enough to hear it.

ok thats all for now, im super tired and rumor has it we're partyin with our label tomorrow just before the show. this could get interesting:)

night

99. allston, poughkeepsie

allston:
murphy's law... states that whatever can go wrong will go wrong. seemed about right for tonight. especially when my taylor acoustic faceplanted into the stage between songs, making it very difficult to use from then on. oh well... only the first show of many on this tour. everybody's nice as hell and we're gonna have a lot of fun. secondhand sounds awesome w/ the full band. pro.

worst ihop experience ever.

poughkeepsie:
amazing fans up in hurr. my guitar works again. saw some friends and family which was nice. really annoying that we have to go all the way to virginia just to come back here (nyc) the next day! and i'm so angry that our slap bracelets didn't come in yet you have no idea!!! i'm just tryna bring back the 90's.

passing out
sean

98. TOUR = NOW

k when i wake up i'm going to allston, rhymes with and sits near boston. then we go a bunch of other places that are listed on the front of our myspace page. check them out and come hang out if you sleep near one of those places. if you're not near one of those places, dont fret... cuz we have many other west coast and southern dates that are pending for april. KEEP CHECKING IN as we are getting constant updates about where we're supposed to be and when. i hear arizona and texas rumors. i kicked a 30 yard field goal the other night. i think i can get 40 if we find a better football.

sean

97. Cash or Credit?

Thats right folks. We will be accepting credit cards for our upcoming tour with Secondhand Serenade. VISA, MASTERCARD, and DISCOVER that is. We have some hot new items that might tickle your fancy. We just got 6 boxes of hoodies delivered and they look great. We hope to see all of you in the coming weeks. We start Saturday in Mass. and we are super excited. We haven't been on the road since September. Make sure you come hang with us after our set. And bring something healthy : ) Maybe even organic : ) You know how crazy we are about our eating habits. Its so hard to stay healthy on the road. But we are going to try our best. Remember to buy our new single "These are the Nights" from iTunes on Tuesday, February 26th........its certified organic. We love you all and we can't wait to see you! Thats all for now. Laterrrrrrrrrrrr

MA

96. full version posted

so it turns out we could have posted the full version of "These Are The Nights" from day one... apparently Universal's policy is that developing artists can post the full version of a song until its sold 250k units. as of now the song has sold 0 units, so we're good to go!

today was stressful but fun... it was fun because we secured a drummer for our upcoming tour. his name is bryan. so when you see him at the show, say hello then call him out for being awkwardly taller than the rest of us;) brendon has one more day of practice with us then hes headed back up north to play some shows with his own band. in the mean time, we'll be jammin with bryan and getting all of the merch sorted/sized.

amazing food of the day: butternut squash soup (even better when dad is paying)

ps if anyone wants to challenge me in scrabulous on facebook... bring it on. just search for making april then challenge mee. im currently addicted

95. Piano Key Contest

click the picture to find out the juicy details...

aside from this nifty little contest, we've been jammin everyday all day. brendon has most of the guitar parts down but still learning the harmonies. i just made the best organic spinach & cheese raviolis... except i didnt make enough and im still hungry. we got word that our slap bracelets are going to be a few days late:/ so the first few tour dates will be braceletless. i like triscuits and cheddar cheese. if anyone needs a gift to bring me on tour, please make it that<3

do you remember typing in 55378008 into a calculator then turning it upside down? miss those days.

-g

was del paxton real?

ps check that little counter at the top of our myspace. i think its choreographed to the time on your computer. so if you turn your clock ahead, maybe youll get the single sooner?
